CLEARWATER, Fla. - Rhys Hoskins finished with three hits on Sunday, but the Clearwater Threshers dropped the series opener to the Bradenton Marauders, 6-4 at Bright House Field.

After Bradenton had loaded the bases off Harold Guerrero (1-2) with two out in the eighth inning, the game entered a two hour and seven minute rain delay.

Miguel Nunez took over when play resumed, and Wyatt Mathisen lined a 1-2 pitch into center to bring home the decisive runs.

Bradenton (19-10) took an early 2-0 lead on Sunday, before the Threshers came back to tie it in the fourth.

With two down, Hoskins reached on an infield hit, and Aaron Brown followed with a single to right. Chace Numata then crushed a double over the head of centerfielder Austin Meadows, bringing home both Hoskins and Brown.

The Marauders answered in the top of the fifth. Harold Ramirez homered on a 1-0 pitch from starter David Whitehead, a two-run shot to bump Bradenton back in front, 4-2.

Whitehead would not factor in the decision, after permitting four runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.

Clearwater (20-11) mounted another comeback in the seventh.

Willians Astudillo and Mitch Walding got it going against reliever Tyler Eppler (2-1), knocking back-to-back singles on consecutive pitches to start the inning. Derek Campbell then advanced both runners into scoring position by executing a sacrifice bunt.

With the tying run at second, Carlos Tocci stepped up and lined a single into left field to plate both Astudillo and Walding and knot the game up at four.

The series will continue on Feeding Frenzy Monday at Bright House Field, with first pitch at 7 p.m. Victor Arano (3-9) takes the mound against Clay Holmes (0-1), and the call can be heard live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6:45 p.m.
