
Marauders Withstand Rain, Clearwater Rallies

Clearwater, FL - The Marauders (19-10, 51-48) defeat the champions of the North Division's 1st Half 6-4 at Bright House Field on Sunday afternoon. The Threshers (20-11, 57-44) rallied twice to tie the game, but 3B Wyatt Mathisen's two-RBI single after a 127 minute rain delay gave the Marauders the lead for good in the eighth inning.
The Marauders opened the scoring in the first inning against David Whitehead. RF Harold Ramirez had an RBI single and SS JaCoby Jones plated a second run with a sacrifice fly. Clearwater drew even in the fourth inning at 2-2, but Ramirez answered with a two-run homer in the fifth to put Bradenton on top 4-2.
RHP Tyler Eppler (W, 2-1) surrendered two runs in the seventh inning, but earned the win when the Marauders rallied in the eighth. C Jin-De Jhang, 1B Edwin Espinal, and C Reese McGuire all reached with two outs against Harold Guerrero (L, 1-2) as rain began to fall. The game was delayed for more than two hours before Miguel Nunez surrendered the decisive hit to Mathisen.
RHP Miguel Rosario pitched the last two innings to earn his third save.
NOTES: The game began at 1:00 p.m. under partly cloudy skies, 84 degrees, and wind blowing negligibly ... The Cody Dickson matched his career high of seven strikeouts for the first time this season ... The rain delay was the longest of the season for the Marauders ...
