Daytona Tortugas News Release

TAMPA, Fla. - The Daytona Tortugas' scheduled game on Saturday evening against the Tampa Tarpons at George M. Steinbrenner Field has been postponed due to heavy rain and unplayable field conditions.

As a result, both teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday, Jul 17, with the first pitch of game one slated for 11:00 a.m. ET. Both contests will be seven innings in length. There will be a roughly 35-minute break in between the two games.

The 'Tugas will look to earn at least a series split before the All-Star break. RHP Chase Petty (0-4, 3.39) - Cincinnati's No. 7 prospect per Baseball America - is expected to make the start in the opener, while RHP Javi Rivera (2-3, 3.06) - the Florida State League Pitcher of the Month for June - is slated to take the hill in game two. RHP Chandler Champlain (2-5, 4.34) - the Yankees' No. 29 prospect - projects to get the ball for the Tarpons in the lid-lifter. RHP Richard Fitts (3-6, 5.10) - the reigning FSL Pitcher of the Week - is expected to go in the finale. Coverage on the Tortugas Radio Network will begin on the MiLB First Pitch app and www.daytonatortugas.com at 10:45 a.m. leading up to the 11 a.m. first pitch from George M. Steinbrenner Field.
