Tortugas Announce Throwback Night at the Jack

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas have announced Throwback Night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for their game on Saturday, August 27th. The Tortugas will revert to a past franchise and honor the Daytona Beach Islanders throughout the night.
The Tortugas will be wearing special Islander jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game to benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer on what is also Stand Up 2 Cancer night at the ballpark.
Additionally, the Tortugas, for the night, will be referred to solely as the Islanders, including any sort of in-house public address announcements and introductions. The night will include food and drink specials and music from the Islanders era.
The Islanders was the name of the original Daytona Beach team from 1920-1924. The name then returned for a year in 1928 and was later used from 1936-1966, as an affiliate for six different Major League teams. Following a short change name to the Dodgers, the Islanders returned in 1977, and then finally from 1985-1986, as part of the Texas Rangers system. In total, the name was used for 36 different seasons and as part of eight different organizations.
The Tortugas will welcome in the Clearwater Threshers, currently in first place, on Throwback Night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Gates open for the game at 5:30 PM for the Pregame Happy Hour.
However, the day kicks off with the 12th Annual Chili Cook-off at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark beginning at 4:30 PM. Tickets for the Chili Cook-off are $17 in advance for adults and $12 in advance for kids, which also includes admission to the game.
