Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
*FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle and St. Lucie Mets played one game of a scheduled doubleheader on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium with the Mets coming away with a 1-0 win before rain washed out game two.
Tuesday's second game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday night with two seven-inning games with the first set to begin at 5 p.m. Fans with tickets from Tuesday's game can exchange them for any non-fireworks game remaining on the Miracle home schedule including Wednesday's twin bill.
In a seven-inning game, starters Keaton Steele and Josh Prevost were locked in a pitcher's duel.
Scoreless after three innings, the only run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning. Patrick Biondi led off with a double down the right field line. David Thompson followed with a single to left to put runners at the corners. Steele (5-10) was able to get Kevin Taylor to roll into a 4-6-3 double play, but Biondi scored to put the Mets up 1-0.
Steele tossed a complete game in a losing effort with just one run allowed on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Prevost (4-7) out-dueled Steele with 6.2 innings of scoreless work. Prevost allowed just three hits, one walk and struck out six. Corey Taylor earned his 18th save of the season with a three-pitch strikeout of Alex Perez to end the game.
The Miracle (56-57, 22-22) and Mets (60-50, 25-18) wrap up a three-game series on Wednesday evening at Hammond Stadium. Sam Clay (1-1) gets the nod for the Miracle against St. Lucie starter Scarlyn Reyes (7-10). Fans can join the Stevie Tomato's Mug Club on Wednesdays for $12.
