Tucson Toros News Release


TUCSON, AZ - The Tucson Toros will return home Friday after completing a Canadian road trip where they played a trio of games in Edmonton followed by a pair of doubleheaders in Calgary.

The Toros will play a scheduled doubleheader in Calgary today then bounce back for another double dip tomorrow as they play a scheduled contest, then make up a rained out game from Tuesday.

The team will return home on Friday to begin a six game home stand against Edmonton and St. George. The opening game of the first series will feature Fireworks Friday as a post game display will dazzle those in attendance with Tucson's most innovative fireworks show.

On Saturday, the first 1000 fans, with paid admission through the gates, will receive a Tucson Toros Inaugural Season Fleece Blanket. Presented by the Maverick, "The King of Clubs."

To close out the three-game set, the Toros will host Bark in the Park and Dollar Dog Sunday. For a donation of $1.00, fans can bring their dog to the game and enjoy a canine section at the ballpark. All proceeds from the donations go to the Southern Arizona Humane Society. In honor of the special event, all in attendance can enjoy Hebrew National hotdogs for $1.00, all night long.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11th the Toros will commence play in another three game series as they host the South Division's first half winner, the St. George Roadrunners. Two For Tuesday specials will be in effect for the opening game of the series as fans will be able to enjoy buy-one get-one free tickets (general admission and upper reserved), hot dogs, soft drinks, margaritas and ice cold beer.

Wednesday's game will feature We Care Wednesday as community groups have the opportunity to fundraise with the Toros.

To close out the series, the Toros will host the always popular Thirsty Thursday. In the final Thirsty Thursday of the 2009 season, beer, iced tea, horchata, lemonade and soft drinks will all be $1.00, starting with the first pitch, for two hours. In addition to the in game specials there will be a free post game concert by Mikel Knight and the Outlaw Band.

Gates open at 6:00 pm each night with game action set to start at 7:00 pm.
