Austin Spurs News Release
AUSTIN, Tx. January 31 - The Austin Toros take pride in reaching out to the Austin and surrounding communities and this weekend's diverse platform of events and outreach are no exception. The Toros play the Bakersfield Jam in back to back contests this Friday and Saturday at the Austin Convention Center (4th and Red River).
Friday, February 2nd is San Antonio Spurs affiliate night. The Spurs legendary mascot, the Coyote, will be on hand to entertain fans and help fill the void created by the two game suspension of Toros mascot Da Bull. The Spurs Silver Dancers will also perform throughout the night. Spurs great George "Iceman" Gervin will be inside the arena for a special autograph session beginning at 6:15 p.m. All Toros fans are encouraged to get to the arena early for a chance to meet the NBA Hall of Famer and master of the "finger roll." Game action tips off at 7:30 p.m.
Friday is also Toros Go Red for Women night and all fans are asked to wear red in support of the American Heart Association's national campaign effort to educate women on heart disease. One dollar from every walk-up ticket sold Friday night will benefit the campaign. The first 100 women in attendance will receive a free red dress lapel pin. All women in attendance who register for the Go Red For Women movement can enter to win prizes including a Swavorski crystal red dress broach.
Saturday, February 3rd is Scout night and Da Bull's welcome back party as the Toros celebrate the return of their beloved mascot from his two game suspension, just in time to lead the half-time scout parade. Scouts attending will receive a Toros scout patch and participate in a pre-game flag presentation.
Toros fans can join Da Bull in his march back to the convention center starting at 6:30p.m. on Saturday. Da Bull will start at Champion's Sports Bar and proceed to the Toros arena for the 7:00p.m. tip off.
