Toros Hold 2009 Local Player Tryouts

AUSTIN, TX ( August 25, 2009) - The Austin Toros announced today that they will hold local tryouts in Austin and San Antonio for their upcoming 2009-2010 season.

The first tryout is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd in Austin at Concordia University. The second tryout will be held in San Antonio on Sunday, October 11th at the San Antonio Factory of Champions. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and tryouts are expected to last the entire day.

During tryouts, potential players will take part in shooting drills, individual assessments and scrimmages. Prospects will be observed by Head Coach Quin Snyder, coaching and basketball operations staff, as well as Dell Demps, General Manager of the Toros.

"We are looking forward to the tryouts and are hoping we can find a few players that can be contributors for the Austin Toros," said Demps. "We are taking the tryouts very seriously and are eager to find a gem."

"We are looking for that blue collar, fearless, hungry player that has been overlooked, needs a chance and is ready to step up and take advantage of this opportunity. Anyone that fits that description should attend our tryout."

Players participating in the workouts will have the opportunity to be invited to the Toros training camp this fall, which could potentially lead to a roster spot.

"We are looking for the next Eric Dawson," said Demps. "Eric grew up in San Antonio and he attended our 2007 open tryout. Eric not only made our roster, but worked his way into the starting line-up and recently signed a lucrative contract overseas."

Players interested in the tryouts should submit completed registration, disclosure, and release forms along with a $150 non refundable fee. The fee is $175 for registration forms received after September 30th. Tryouts are limited to the first 100 applicants who register and submit their registration fee.
