Austin, TX Feb. 10, 2011 - The Austin Toros fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 117-97 Thursday night at the Cedar Park Center. Toros' Kevin Palmer led all scorers with 22 points.
The Toros fell behind early in the first quarter, but fought back as Palmer scored ten points in the second quarter, which allowed the Toros to cut down a Vipers double-digit lead. The Toros trailed the Vipers 57-50 at the half. The Toros where unable to keep up their charge in the second half and were defeated by their in-state rivals.
Lance Thomas (17) and Carldell "Squeaky" Johnson (15) followed Palmer to round out the Toros leader board. Jerel McNeal (18), Patrick Sullivan (17) and Jeff Adrien (17) led the Vipers in scoring.
The Austin Toros (12-18) and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (23-9) will face off for the second game of a weekend series at Cedar Park Center Saturday, February 12 at noon. The Toros will host Spurs Affiliate Night on Saturday and will give away Spurs tickets and merchandise.
