Toros Fall to Legends in Double Overtime

Austin, TX March 2, 2011 - The Austin Toros fell to the Texas Legends 138-136 in double overtime at Cedar Park Center. It was the first of two weekday games and the first time the Toros and the Legends have faced off at the Toros home court. Moses Ehambe led all scorers with 37 points sinking 9 of 11 three-point attempts.

The first quarter, which saw nine lead changes and six ties, came to a close with the Legends ahead 31-27. The Toros caught fire in the second with Moses Ehambe shooting 100 percent from beyond the arc, contributing 20 points to the Toros first half points. The Toros recorded a new season high 68 first half points and led the Legends 68-59 at the half.

The Toros led throughout the majority of the third quarter, but the Legends recaptured the lead for the first time since the first quarter with three minutes left in the third. The fourth quarter began with yet another three pointer by Ehambe. Leo Lyons contributed 12 points in the first nine minutes of the fourth, helping the Toros tie the game at 123 with 1:36 left to play. The Toros stopped the Legends on the last possession of the game sending it into overtime with the score still tied at 123.

In overtime, the Toros took the lead with a little over one minute left to play after a Lyons three pointer. The Legends responded with an Antonio Daniels lay-up and recaptured the lead 127-126 with under a minute to play. Carldell "Squeaky" Johnson made a crucial three-pointer on the next possession to give the Toros a two-point lead, but Joe Alexander tied the game at 129 on the next Legends possession. The Toros had the final possession with 18.5 seconds left in overtime, but were unable to convert sending the game into a second overtime period. With 10.5 seconds left in the second overtime period, Lyons made three free throws that tied the game at 136 and left just 2.6 seconds on the clock. The Legends were able to score on a Justin Dentmon drive that put the Legends ahead 138-136.

Toros' Leo Lyons scored 34 points and Marcus Cousin recorded his 15th double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Joe Alexander led the Legends in scoring with 34 points and Antonio Daniels followed recording a double-double with 23 and 11 assists.

The Austin Toros (15-21) and the Texas Legends (17-21) will face off again tomorrow Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Park Center. The Toros have invited local women's organizations to Thursday's "Girls Night Out" game to promote women in business and spread breast cancer awareness.
