Skyforce Overcomes Large Deficit to Defeat Stampede

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 1, 2011) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede 93-85 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Tuesday night. Sioux Falls trailed by 21 points in the second quarter but outscored Idaho 32-15 in the final quarter to end their four game-losing streak.

Idaho (15-22) led 26-21 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 21 points (44-23) midway through the second quarter. Sioux Falls responded with a 19-4 run and trailed 48-42 at halftime.

Idaho started the second half strong and led by 17 points (68-51) with just under four minutes to go in the third quarter but Sioux Falls (7-28) used an 18-2 run to make the score 70-69 early in the final stanza. Raymond Sykes scored a bucket with just over three minutes to go to help Sioux Falls regain the lead and they made all the big plays down the stretch to pick up a win against a team that features five former NBA players.

Sean Marshall had a solid game off the bench as he finished with a season-high 26 points and five rebounds to lead the Skyforce. Patrick Ewing, Jr. (22 points, 11 rebounds), Sykes (18 points, 12 rebounds) and David Bailey (14 points, 10 assists) each recorded double-doubles.

Cedric Jackson contributed 17 points, seven assists and four steals in defeat. Carlos Wheeler chipped in with 15 points off the bench while Sean Banks and newly acquired Tony Bobbitt added 12.

The same two teams tangle on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT at the Sioux Falls Arena.
