Austin Spurs News Release

AUSTIN, Texas - BJ Elder scored 29 points and grabbed four rebounds as the Austin Toros easily defeated the Fort Worth Flyers 109-77 on Friday night at the Austin Convention Center. The Toros head into the NBA All-Star Break winning 10 of their last 11 games.

The Toros blew the game open in the third quarter and led by as many as 36 in the fourth quarter. The Toros finished the game shooting 49% from the field and held the Flyers to only 29% from the field.

NBA D-League All-Star Loren Woods finished with eight points and 10 rebounds on 4-of-7 shooting. Both Elder and Loren Woods will represent the Eastern Division tomorrow afternoon in the inaugural Gillette D-League All-Star Game in Association with 24-Hour Fitness at 5 p.m. ET on NBA TV.

Trailing by five points early in the first quarter, Elder helped spark a 12-5 run to close the quarter after Cheyne Gadson's free throw tied the game at 14-14. The Flyers defense had no answer for Elder, who scored 15 of his 29 points in the period. Elder's deep two-point shot as time expired put Austin on top 28-19 to end the first quarter.

Jeremy Richardson's fade away jump shot would cut the Toros lead to 34-31 in the opening minutes of the second quarter but the Toros defense would answer the offensive spurt of the Flyers. Austin held Fort Worth scoreless for the final 5:20 of the second quarter. The Toros used the Flyers' poor shooting to head into halftime on a 21-3 run.

Austin (15-17) never looked back after establishing the large lead in the second quarter and beat the Eastern Division leading Fort Worth Flyers (18-11) for the first time this season.

Kris Clack scored a season-high 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Other Toros scoring in double figures included Brock Gillespie (13), Brad Buckman (11) and Cheyne Gadson (10).
