April 20, 2024 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC announced that the club has signed Toronto FC II midfielder Andrei Dumitru to an MLS short-term agreement for Saturday's MLS regular season match against New England Revolution.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign a player on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
Dumitru, 17, recently signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC II and made his debut with TFC II against Columbus Crew 2 on April 7, 2024. Prior to signing with the Young Reds, the midfielder spent seven years with the TFC Academy since joining in October 2016. In 2023, he represented the U-19 team in League1 Ontario and was part of the squad that recorded an undefeated (12-0-0) regular season record and became League1 Ontario Fall Division champions in November 2023.
