Toronto FC Selects Deleon in MLS Re-Entry Draft

Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has selected midfielder Nick DeLeon in the first stage of the 2019 MLS Re-Entry Draft.

"Nick is a veteran player that has experience both playing as an attacking winger and also as a defender," said Toronto FC Sr. Vice-President, Soccer Operations & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "His versatility will be a welcomed addition to our club."

DeLeon, 28, has spent all seven years of his professional career with D.C. United after being selected seventh overall in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. During his time with D.C. DeLeon made a combined 202 appearances, adding 19 goals and 19 assists in MLS regular season, MLS Cup Playoffs, U.S. Open Cup and Concacaf Champions League. DeLeon was part of D.C. United's 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup winning team. He was named a 2012 MLS Rookie of the Year finalist.
