Toronto FC News Release

Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has acquired a second round pick (39th overall) in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for goalkeeper Clint Irwin.

"We want to thank Clint for all his contributions to Toronto FC both on the pitch and in our community and wish him the best moving forward," said Toronto FC Sr. Vice-President, Soccer Operations & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "The deal allows us to bring in an asset rather than losing Clint in the re-entry process as we continue to shape our roster for the 2019 season."

Irwin, 29, rejoins Colorado after spending the past three seasons with Toronto FC. For TFC, Irwin made 49 combined appearances and posted a record of 18-16-13 with 16 clean sheets. He was part of Toronto FC's treble winning side in 2017 and the 2016 & 2018 Canadian Championship winning sides. Irwin originally joined Toronto FC from the Rapids in a trade on January 18, 2016.
