Toronto FC II announced Thursday that the club has signed midfielder Brian James to a USL contract. As per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. He will be added to the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
"We are pleased to sign another SuperDraft selection to Toronto FC II and allow him to continue his development," said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "Brian has shown solid technical ability and a high work rate throughout the preseason with both the first team and Toronto FC II. We have no doubt Brian will be a welcomed addition to the team."
James, 22, began preseason with the first team where he appeared in five matches. He joined Toronto FC II for the remainder of their preseason and made four appearances. He was selected in the fourth round, 80th overall by Toronto FC in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
