Cleveland Barons News Release

TORONTO, ON - Luke Fulghum scored the first three goals of his AHL career to lead the Toronto Marlies to a 6-1 win over the Barons. Barons forward Steve Bernier assisted on a second period Ray DiLauro goal extending his current point streak to five games.

Jay Harrison's fifth goal, and third against the Barons, this season gave the Marlies a 1-0 lead after the first twenty minutes of play. Special teams made the difference as Toronto went one-for-one with the man advantage and the Barons were scoreless in three tries. Nolan Schaefer, making his 11th appearance in the last 12 Barons games, surrendered the Harrison goal, the first against Schaefer in more than 145 minutes of play. Schaefer set a Barons franchise record posting back-to-back shutouts entering today's action.

The Marlies scored 3 second period goals, two from Luke Fulghum, for a 4-1 lead after forty minutes of play. The Marlies continued to take advantage of power play chances scoring twice with the man-advantage in the period as the Barons were whistled for 27-minutes in penalties. Fulghum began the middle period surge with his first of the year at even strength. The Marlies extended their lead to 3-0 with a power play goal from Brad Leeb. Barons defenseman Ray DiLauro stopped the bleeding with his 4th of the year coming at the 11:22 mark. The momentum for Cleveland didn't last long with Fulghum adding his second of the night at the 18:29 mark to finish the second period offense. The Barons were out-shot 17-3 in the period, the lowest total in a period by the Barons this year.

Fulghum completed the hat trick with his third goal of the night at 6:25 to close out a 6-1 Marlies win. Bates Battaglia also scored in the third period as the Barons fell to 1-4-0-0 in five tries against the Marlies.

The Barons return to home ice to host three consecutive contests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday night's action will feature the Milwaukee Admirals for a 7 O'clock start. Saturday is a Barons Kids' Day Matinee at 1pm versus the Peoria Rivermen and Sunday's game time is 5 O'clock with the Manitoba Moose skating into action. Tickets for all three games are on sale now at the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office. Fans can crash the net at www.clevelandbarons.net for details on the heavy promotional weekend.
