Bulldogs begin five-game homestand

The Hamilton Bulldogs (13-23-0-2) begin the New Year with a five game homestand, starting with three games in four nights this week. The Bulldogs host the North Division leading Grand Rapids Griffins (24-10-1-2) on Wednesday, January 4 (7:30 p.m.), before battling the Peoria Rivermen (17-14-1-1) on Friday, January 6 (7:00 p.m.), and wrap up the week by facing the Manitoba Moose (22-11-1-2) on Saturday, January 7 (7:00 p.m.).

- With their 4-1 win over the Rochester Americans on Thursday, December 29, the Bulldogs improved to 3-0-0-0 when playing on Thursdays this season.

Player Notes

- LW Michael Lambert had his three game goal-scoring streak snapped on Saturday, December 31 in Hamilton's 5-1 loss to the Peoria Rivermen. Lambert is tied with Francis Lemieux and Brad Winchester (twice) for the longest goal-scoring streak by a Bulldog this season. He added two assists over the stretch for a total of five points.

- LW Lucas Lawson recorded his first point as a Bulldog, earning an assist against Peoria.

- Lemieux, who scored his eleventh goal of the season in the Bulldogs' 7-2 loss on Friday, December 30 to the Grand Rapids Griffins, is tied with Brad Winchester for the team's goal scoring lead.

- RW Andrei Kostitsyn scored his team-leading second shorthanded goal of the season on Tuesday, December 27 against the Syracuse Crunch (4-2 L). On December 31 at Peoria, Kostitsyn played in his 100th career AHL game.

- D Dan Smith recorded his first multipoint game of the season against the Crunch, posting two assists.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4 - GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS @ HAMILTON BULLDOGS - 7:30 P.M. - COPPS COLISEUM

- This game will mark the seventh meeting of the season between these two teams.

- Grand Rapids leads the season series with a record of 4-1-0-1, including a 7-2 victory the last time these two teams met on December 30 at Van Andel Arena.

- The Griffins lead the North Division with 51 points.

- Grand Rapids forward Jiri Hudler is tied for second in league scoring with 46 points (18g-28a) in 33 games played.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 7 - MANITOBA MOOSE @ HAMILTON BULLDOGS - 7:00 P.M. - COPPS COLISEUM

- This game will be the third meeting of the season between these two clubs this season and the first in Hamilton.

- The Moose won the first two games of the season series by scores of 7-2 (Nov. 29) and 4-3 (Nov. 30).

- Manitoba sits in second position in the North Division with 47 points, four behind first place Grand Rapids.

- Bulldogs LW Jean-Francois Jacques has three points (1g-2a) in two games against the Moose this season.

- Manitoba goaltender Wade Flaherty leads the AHL with five shutouts this season. He ranks 7th in goals-against average (2.35) and sits tied for 5th in save percentage (0.935).

- Canadiens RW Michael Ryder scored his team-leading 17th goal of the season in Montreal's 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

- Four former Bulldogs had points for the Oilers in Edmonton's 6-5 loss to the Calgary Flames including C Jarret Stoll (1g,2a), C Shawn Horcoff (2a), LW Raffi Torres (1g), and D Marc-Andre Bergeron (1g).

- Mighty Ducks D Francois Beauchemin netted two assists in Anaheim's 5-4 shootout win over the St. Louis Blues.
