
Canadiens assign Perezhogin to Bulldogs

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the team has assigned forward Alexander Perezhogin to the Hamilton Bulldogs. In addition, the Canadiens have recalled forwards Andrei Kostitsyn and Jonathan Ferland as well as defenseman Jean-Philippe Cote from the Bulldogs.
Perezhogin, 22, has played in 36 games for the Canadiens this season, recording 12 points (six goals, six assists) and 24 penalty minutes. The native of Kazakhstan played last season in Russia for Omsk Avangard, recording 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) and 18 penalty minutes in 43 regular season games. In 11 playoff games with Omsk, Perezhogin collected five points (three goals, two assists) and eight penalty minutes. In 2003-04, he played in 77 games for Hamilton, earning 50 points (23 goals, 27 assists), and 52 penalty minutes. In five playoff games, he posted six points (three goals, three assists) and 16 penalty minutes.
Kostitsyn, 20, has played in 34 games for Hamilton, producing 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) and 38 penalty minutes. The native of Novopolotsk, Belarus, has played in five games for the Canadiens and recorded one point (1-0-1), his first NHL goal on December 13 against the Phoenix Coyotes.
Ferland, 22, has appeared in 14 games for the Bulldogs, collecting nine points (five goals, four assists), and 47 penalty minutes. The native of St. Marie-du-Beauce, Quebec, missed 23 games with a knee injury.
Cote, 23, has played in 26 games for Hamilton this season, earning three assists and 51 penalty minutes. In three games with the Canadiens, the native of Quebec City, Quebec, has gone scoreless while posting four penalty minutes.
Hamilton's next action will take place on Wednesday, January 4, when the team begins a five-game home stand by facing the Grand Rapids Griffins. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
