Toronto Defeats Rochester 4-3 in a Shootout

The Toronto Marlies defeated the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 4-3 in a shootout from the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester tonight.

Toronto jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Mike Kostka's fourth goal of the season at 3:17 of the opening period. Toronto outshot Rochester 13-7 in the first period. Luke Adam's powerplay goal three minutes into the middle frame tied the game at one. Toronto would regain the lead at 9:06 of the second period on Will Acton's fourth goal of the year. Rochester mounted a comeback in the third period behind goals from Mark Pysyk and Marcus Foligno. With the Toronto net empty, Matt Frattin tied the game at three with ten seconds left on the clock. Despite outshooting the Amerks 5-1 in overtime, the Marlies were unable to beat goaltender David Leggio. Mike Kostka and Matt Frattin scored for Toronto in the shootout, while Ben Scrivens stopped all four Amerks shooters.

Toronto returns to the ice tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. when they take on the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, at Ricoh Coliseum. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
