Tornadoes Salvage Series Finale Over Pride

(NASHUA, NH, June 28, 2007) Jeff LaHair's two-out single in the eighth inning scored Chris Colabello with the game-winning run as the Worcester Tornadoes (18-15) avoided a three-game sweep on Thursday night with a 4-3 victory over the Nashua Pride (20-13) before a crowd of 1,405 at Historic Holman Stadium.

Colabello opened the eighth with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then

scored on LaHair's hit off Pride reliever Steve Palazzolo (4-1) who suffered his first loss of the season. Palazzolo was the third of four Nashua pitchers on the night. Starter Jason Kosow of Exeter, NH went four innings, allowing four hits and two runs, walking four and striking out six.

Worcester starter Alex Pena (2-2) worked seven innings, surrendering nine hits, three runs, walking no one and fanning eight Nashua hitters. Relievers Eddie Pena and John Birtwell each worked a scoreless inning for the Tornadoes with Birtwell posting his fourth save of the season.

Nashua's Austin Wasserman tied the game at 3-3 for the Pride in the sixth with a solo home run off Alex Pena, his second of the season. Nashua scored a pair in the third off Pena on a two-run single by Olmo Rosario who was three for three on the night. He's among the Can-Am League leaders with 48 hits and he tops the Pride with 23 RBI.

The Pride will host the North Shore Spirit Friday night at 7:05 at Historic Holman Stadium.
