September 4, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release

Rene Leveret walked leading off the second inning and scored Sunday's only run in a 1-0 five-inning game at Le Stade Municipal.

In the bottom of the second, Leveret was the first batter to reach against Tornadoes starter Shawn Gilblair. The Capitales' first baseman walked, then took second on a ground out by Pierre-Luc Laforest. Ivan Naccarata singled Leveret over to third, and Quebec took the lead on Patrick D'Aoust's sacrifice fly.

Gilblair fell to (6-7) on the season, pitching four innings and striking out five. He walked two batters and walked one in his team-leading 19th start of 2011.

John Mariotti earned the win with five innings of shutout ball. He struck out two batters, walked one and gave up four hits.

Cameron Monger supplied half of Worcester's offense with a pair of infield singles. Alex Trezza and Tony Patane chipped in with a base hit each, while Alex Nunez was hit by a pitch and Anthony Sosnoskie walked. Chris Colabello reached on the game's only error (by Ivan Naccarata).

Three half-innings in a row ended with 6-4-3 double plays, including Mariotti's three-pitch fourth.

Worcester was eliminated from playoff contention before Sunday's contest with the Brockton Rox's 6-2 victory over the New Jersey Jackals in the afternoon.

The final game of the regular season is on Monday at 4:05pm. Luis Pardo will get the nod for Worcester in the Tornadoes' last game of 2011. The broadcast on USTREAM begins at 3:50 with Tornadoes Pre-Game Live.
