Tormenta FC Falls to Greenville Triumph and Concludes Open Cup Run

South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
After Tormenta 2's big win last night in Erk Russell Park against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC, the club's League One side traveled to Greenville to face its rival in Round One of the US Open Cup. Although the club hoped to make tonight's match a two for two run in the Open Cup, Tormenta FC lost a tough game to Greenville Triumph SC 1-0. Greenville advances to Round Two to play USL Championship team Charleston Battery.
Tormenta played a strong defensive match throughout with twenty-one clearances to Greenville's ten. Additionally, Argentinian goalkeeper Matias Reynares had a very promising debut for the club tonight with several fantastic saves. Despite a chippy scuffle inside the box in the 67th, Reynares was able to block a free kick by Aaron Walker to the right corner. The shots that Tormenta did make though were close, like Arslan's header in the 31st that flew just shy above the bar.
With Conner Antley and Ricardo Gomez subbing on early into the second half, Tormenta was able to pick up the pace and increase productivity. Antley made one of his trademark runs in the 69th, trying to steal a goal but was not able to follow through. After seventy-five minutes of struggle, Greenville's Cole Seiler scored the game winner after a set piece and chaos inside the box.
Tormenta now turns its focus solely to the regular season and will play Toronto FC II for the first time at home this Sunday at 7 pm. The match is a Mother's Day edition with free general admission for all moms.
