
Tormenta FC Announces Players of the Month for May

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC has announced three Players of the Month across its USL League One, League Two and W League teams, following impressive performances in May.
The winners were determined via a weighted average from the following three voting bodies:
A fan vote comprised of 60 percent of the poll.
The Tormenta FC staff ballots comprised 20 percent of the poll.
Media ballots comprised of 20 percent of the poll.
On the professional side, midfielder Gabriel Cabral was a machine in the midfield this month, playing nearly every minute through four matches in May and earning a League One Team of the Week appearance. The Brazilian midfielder earned an average passing accuracy of 86.4% and created 10 scoring chances while ranking second in the league for chances created with an overall of 18. On the defensive side, Cabral recorded 23 duels won, six tackles, five interceptions and two clearances. Cabral also made seven shots and four crosses in May.
Cabral earned 48.48% of the total fan vote with forward Kazaiah Sterling coming in second with 33.94%. Midfielder Adrian Billhardt and defender Joshua Phelps follow with 10.42% and 7.15%, respectively.
From the USL W League team, Amy Andrews earns her first Player of the Month honors after showing off her exceptional offensive skills in May. Andrews currently leads Tormenta FC with three goals scored and plenty of threats to opposing teams throughout the team's historic first month of play. The English forward also scored Tormenta FC's first USL W League goal in a brace against Tennessee SC on the road.
Andrews earned a majority of the fan vote with 38.20%, followed closely by midfielder Jenae Packard 33.02%. Defender Abby Wolf and goalkeeper Sydney Martinez earned 14.43% and 14.35% of the fan vote, respectively.
Tormenta FC 2's Salvatore Mazzaferro was named TFC 2 Player of the Month after holding down the backline through two wins and two draws in May. Mazzaferro was a leader on and off the pitch and helped TFC to one clean sheet this month. The defender also impressed in multiple positions and was strong with or without the ball.
Mazzaferro received 59.14% of the total fan vote, edging out midfielder and captain Henry Sach who earned 34.86%. Midfielders JC Ngando and Mutaya Mwape followed with 3.86% and 2.14% of the vote.
Tormenta FC's USL League One team takes on Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC for the first time this Saturday, June 11, at 9 p.m. ET. Tormenta FC 2 is also in action this Saturday, traveling to face Dalton Red Wolves SC at 7:30 p.m. ET. The USL W League side will battle Chattanooga Red Wolves SC the following day on Sunday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
