B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import wide receiver Tony Simmons has agreed to terms with the reigning CFL champs. In keeping with club policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.
Simmons will enter his third season with the Lions after signing as a free agent in 2005. Appearing to be on pace for a terrific season in 2006, Simmons started the campaign with a bang after a five-catch, 110-yard performance versus Saskatchewan in Week 1 which also included a 70-yard TD. Tony would add six more receptions for 73 yards in Week 2 but injured his right knee during a kickoff return in Regina and was sidelined for the remainder of the year.
"Tony is a proven game-breaker and this is the first in a series of steps to have him attend 2007 training camp," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "He has the kind of speed and ability our fans have come to expect from our receivers and I know he is excited to return."
