Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers News Release

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - After another successful season with the UC-Irvine Anteaters, Tommy Reyes returns to the Lunkers on Thursday when Brainerd Lakes Area is on the road against the Willmar Stingers.

Reyes, who was part of the 2010 Lunkers unit, had a strong year for a UC-Irvine team that made it to the super regionals in the NCAA tournament. He hit .289 with 50 hits and 29 RBIs. After winning the Los Angeles regional, Irvine fell to Virginia in the super regionals, losing the series 2 games to 1 on June 13.

Last year for the Lunkers, Reyes was very strong defensively in the Lunker infield. He also produced offensively, hitting .257 with 49 hits and 22 RBIs.

"Tommy is going to bring great defense," said Lunkers field manager Ryan Levendoski. "He is going to step into the lineup anywhere from the two hole all the way down to the seven hole. We're just looking for Tommy to solidify our infield defense."

Reyes, who played at second base for Irvine this year, also has the ability to play shortstop and third base.
