Charlie Johnson to be honored with Bobble Head on Friday, January 17th.

There are many reasons to be thankful for this hockey season... a winning team, amazing fans, great sponsors, a beautiful arena, Captain Trouba, Coach Letizia, Johnstown Legend Reggie Kent and of course Charlie! Charlie?

This year the Tomahawks are honoring four deserving long-time team members with their own bobble head giveaway series. Starting with a legend edition featuring Johnstown Jets legend and long time season ticket holder Reg Kent (Oct. 25th), a coaches edition featuring Tomahawks head coach and community leader Mike Letizia (Feb. 15th), and a players edition featuring fan-favorite and team leader Chris Trouba (March 14th).

The Tomahawks organization are especially thankful for a long time community volunteer, CHARLIE JOHNSON.

The Johnstown native will be honored by the Tomahawks organization on Friday January 17th for his 30 years of dedication and commitment to Johnstown Hockey and the Johnstown community. For 22 years with the Johnstown Chiefs and 8 years with the Tomahawks, Charlie continues to be a staple at home games, volunteering his time attending to various game day operation duties.

"In 30 years I've only missed two games. I take great pride in Johnstown hockey and I'm truly honored to be recognized by the team." said Charlie.

The two games missed were to attend his late mother's burial in South Carolina two seasons ago. In all, that's over 1000 games of loyal service and dedication to his favorite Johnstown hockey teams.

"Charlie deserves this recognition and we hope the community honors him along with us." said team president, Richard Bouchard. "His 41 years of service with the Tribune Democrat, 36 years of volunteering at the AAABA, and now 30 years with Johnstown hockey and everything in between, Charlie loves Johnstown and takes tremendous pride in the community he helps serve. He's been amazing and we appreciate everything he's done for Johnstown."

The Charlie Johnson Staffer Bobble Head edition will be limited to the first 1000 people through the door on Friday January 17th. Charlie himself will also be at the door welcoming guests and taking donations to benefit the youth hockey program of his alma mater, the Johnstown Trojans.

Tickets start at $7 for kids and $10 for adults, and can be purchased at the arena box office or by visiting Ticketmaster.com.

The Charlie Johnson Bobble Head Edition is presented in part by these fine sponsors...

Our Sons Chicken, the Johnstown Tomahawks Booster Club, Tulune's Living the Dream Bar & Grill, Stryking Boutique, K-Tees, Fetz's Sports Pub, Robert Barmoy Construction, Scott's by Dam and the Tribune Democrat.

PLAYER NEWS

Tomahawks veteran defenseman and team captain, Chris Trouba, is in good spirits after he sustained a scary injury occured Saturday night against the Black Bears. An awkward landing into the boards broke the C-6 vertabrae in his neck, but luckily there was no damage to his spinal cord. While he has to wear a neck brace for at least eight weeks, he is expected to make a full recovery. Chris and everyone in the Tomahawks organization appreciate all of the support and kind words we have received over the past several days.

*In support of our captain, we will also be holding a get well card collection for him on December 6th, 7th, and 18th during our home games. You can drop off a card at the Kids Club table or at the will call table. You may also drop one off in our office during business hours, 9:00am-5:00pm, or mail one to 326 Napoleon Street Suite 115, Johnstown, PA 15901. Kevin Ford has graciously offered to donate the shipping costs to get them all to Chris.*

Tomahawks forward, Christian Gorscak, had a monster weekend against the Black Bears. In two games he tallied six points (two goals and four assists), with one of his assists being on Malik Alishlalov's overtime game-winner Friday night, and one of his goals being the overtime game-winner Saturday night. After that performance, he now leads the team in points with 28 (10 goals and 18 assists).
