New Mexico Ice Wolves News Release

Albuquerque, NM - We are pleased to announce that we have used our first tender of the season on forward Micah Maldonado, effective 2020-2021. Maldonado is 17-years-old and is a native of Plano, TX.

Currently, Micah plays for the Dallas Stars U18 (T1EHL) team. In the ten games he has played for them thus far, he has recorded seven points (2g-5a), putting him second on the team. Last season he played 29 games for their U16 team totaling, seven points as well (6g-1a). He also played four games in the NAPHL last season (1g).

The 6'0", 180lb. right-handed shooter had this to say about his tender signing with the Ice Wolves, "I think it's going to be a great opportunity and when I met the boys I knew it was a special team to play for." Micah went on to add, "I chose the Ice Wolves because I've known Keenan (Kelly) for a long time and when I heard he was coming to New Mexico, I had to come down and see what it was all about."

Phil Fox, the Head Coach for the Ice Wolves had nothing but praise for the young forward, even stating, "Micah is a forward who has great hockey IQ. He does all the things we are looking for in a player. Plays with speed, size, and is puck savvy. He makes the players around him better, and is very hard to play against. Phil went on to add, "We are very happy with the tender signing of Micah Maldonado. We saw him at our Main Camp and knew we wanted to tender him for next year."
