Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JAMESTOWN, New York - The Johnstown Tomahawks opened their weekend road trip with a loss against the Jamestown Rebels at Northwest Arena.
The Rebels controlled play for a majority of the 1st period, striking a little over six minutes into the game. Jordan Cormier tipped a shot past Tomahawks goalie, David Tomeo, to open the scoring. Then, with Jamestown on the power play, Nick Siffringer found a loose puck in front and buried it in the net to put his team up 2-0.
Johnstown was able to chip away at Jamestown's lead in the second period. Carson Gallagher scored on the power play (his 14th goal of the season) to cut the Rebels' lead in half, with Bennett Stockdale and Quinn Warmuth picking up the assists. The Tomahawks appeared to have tied the game late in the period, but the referees waved the goal off due to the net coming off its moorings.
The comeback was short-lived, however, as Liam Hansson scored three minutes into the third period to put Jamestown up 3-1. Johnstown pulled their goalie towards the end of regulation, but were unable to score with the extra attacker.
With the loss, Johnstown remains in second place in the East with 34 points. The New Jersey Titans lost to the Maryland Black Bears, but remain atop the division with 37 points.
