Tomahawks Get Physical

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Tomahawks were back in action against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Cambria County War Memorial. The Tomahawks started the first period of play with speed and passion, but got in trouble early in the game when Alex Archibald scored a power-play goal at 6:14 to give the Fighting Falcons a 1-0. The first period came to a close with a fight between Johnstown's Jordan Watt and Port Huron's Logan Lambdin. The second period opened to a physical brawl between Trevor Heuser of the Tomahawks and Conner Enciso of the Fighting Falcons, giving the Tomahawks momentum. Collin Finkhouse used this momentum to tie the game at one on a goal at 4:28. The period ended 3-1 with goals by Port Huron's Jonathan Kopacka and Nick Le Sage respectively and a fight among Johnstown's Cody Gylling and Port Huron's Reed Scahill. The final score was set at 5-1 on goals by Bryan Yim and Zach Badalamenti.

Johnstown will head to Blaine, MN next to participate in the North American Hockey League Showcase. The Tomahawks will play four games in four days, taking on the Amarillo Bulls, last season's Robertson Cup champions, Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8:15 p.m. Johnstown will also face the Topeka RoadRunners, the Aberdeen Wings and the Bismarck Bobcats over the course of the following three days. The NAHL Showcase provides players with the opportunity to display their talents to college and professional scouts across the country. The Tomahawks continue their season on the road following the showcase by traveling to Sault Ste. Marie, MI to battle the Soo Eagles. Johnstown returns to the War Memorial Arena Oct. 5 to play the Springfield Jr. Blues at 7 p.m.
