
Tomahawks Fall to Jr. Blues on Guns & Hoses Night

The Johnstown Tomahawks were unable to strike on Saturday night, falling 2-0 to the Springfield Jr. Blues on Guns & Hoses Night presented by L&M Excavating. The shutout snaps a streak of 11 consecutive games with at least one goal scored.
After the game went scoreless for nearly 75 minutes, Brendan Jacques took advantage of a pass from TJ Friedmann to get the Jr. Blues on the board at 15:05 of the second period.
The Tomahawks had opportunities in the third period, including an open net opportunity that was swatted away at the last second by a Springfield defender.
Cameron Cooper set the final score, scoring an empty net goal from inside his defensive zone with three seconds remaining in regulation.
Dryden McKay earned the shutout victory, stopping all 27 shots he faced. Jake Gwillim suffered the loss, stopping 25 of 26 shots. The Tomahawks and Jr. Blues went a combined 0-for-7 on the power play.
The Tomahawks close out their series against Springfield tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. Fans are asked to bring new, unopened packaged of underwear to toss onto the ice after the first Tomahawks goal.
