Tomahawks Earn Point, Fall 4-3 in Shootout

The Johnstown Tomahawks and Wenatchee Wild each earned point on Saturday night. The Wild earned the extra point and the 4-3 shootout victory at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Wash.

The Tomahawks struck first as Trevor Recktenwald scored on the power play at 11:51. Matthew Meier and Brady Bender each added assists on the goal.

The Wild tied the game with a power-play goal from Trey Bradley 1:11 into the second period. Omar Mullan and Ryan Gotelaere drop the gloves prior to the faceoff after the goal.

The Tomahawks regained the lead when Jordan Watt took a 2-on-1 pass from Joe Drabin and fired it past goaltender Gustaf Johansson at 4:42 of the second period. The goal was Watt's first since scoring against Soo on Sept. 29.

The Wild tied the game at 7:51 of the third period as Parker Tuomie scored a power-play goal from the right side of Alex Okicki. Brandon Reinholz gave the Tomahawks a 3-2 lead on his team-leading 12th goal of the season at 12:40.

With the extra attacker on the ice, Wenatchee's Troy Loggins scored the tying goal with 35 seconds remaining in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

After a scoreless overtime period, the teams headed to the shootout, where Wenatchee got goals from Trey Bradley, Parker Tuomie, and Troy Loggins. The Tomahawks shootout goal was scored when Omar Mullan snuck a puck past the right leg of Johansson.

Johansson earned the win, stopping 20 of 23 shots and three of four in the shootout. Okicki took the loss, stopping 46 of 49 shots in regulation and allowing three shootout goals. Johnstown went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Wenatchee went 2-for-5.
