Harrisburg Heat News Release

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 10 - After leading the team in scoring in each of their first two seasons, forward Tom Mellor is coming back for a third season with the Harrisburg Heat, the Major Arena Soccer League team announced today.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Mellor, 24, is coming off a season in which he led the Heat with 37 points on 18 goals and 19 assists, despite missing four games with injuries.

In 25 games over two seasons with the Heat, Mellor has 36 goals and 34 assists for 70 points - all modern-franchise records. He also holds the modern Heat's record for most points in a game with six, a feat he has accomplished three times. He also is only Harrisburg player to score five goals in a game and record as many as four assists in a game.

Mellor's return comes two days after the Heat announced their agreement to terms with Dean Miller, the former Cleveland Freeze forward who played at Division III power Notre Dame College in Ohio just prior to Mellor's arrival there.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Mellor becomes the fourth player to reach terms with the Heat, following forward Chris Hall, midfielder Tyler Witmer and Miller.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

OPENING NIGHT: The Heat will open the third season of their modern era on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Detroit before returning home to face Detroit on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the State Farm Show Complex's Large Arena, where the original Heat played from 1991-2003.

The Heat will play 10 regular-season home games at the 7,300-seat Large Arena after spending the last two seasons in the complex's Equine Arena. The entire schedule may be found at www.harrisburgheat.com.
