Four Toledo hurlers combined to hold Norfolk to four hits as the Mud Hens edged Jamie Moyer and the Tides 3-2 in front of 8,061 fans at Harbor Park Friday night.

Moyer (1-1) turned in another strong outing for the Tides, as he scattered seven hits while striking out seven over seven innings of work. The 49-year-old southpaw did not walk a batter and allowed three runs - two earned - while throwing 66 of his 103 pitches for strikes.

Moyer has now allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits in 12.0 innings since joining the Tides on June 9. He's also struck out 12 without walking a batter over those two starts.

21-year-old Jacob Turner (2-1) earned the win for the Hens, as he held the Tides to two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings. Turner walked two and struck out six, throwing 60 of his 104 pitches for strikes.

Norfolk put the first two runners on base against Chris Bootcheck in the ninth inning, but Bootcheck rallied to strike out Joe Mahoney, Bill Hall and L.J. Hoes to wrap up the win and his 12th save of the season.

Xavier Avery had an RBI double to lead Norfolk's offense, while Blake Davis added a double, single and a run scored.

The two clubs will continue their series on Saturday night, with first pitch from Harbor Park slated for 7:15. Zach Britton (1-1, 5.91) takes the hill for Norfolk against right-hander Brooks Brown (1-2, 4.93).

Saturday night is Marine Night at Harbor Park, as active duty and retired United States Marines and dependents can show their ID at the box office to receive box seat tickets for $8.50 and reserved seats for $7.50. There will also be a postgame fireworks show, sponsored by Navy Mutual.
