
Tobs Signee Trent Howard Drafted in 7th Round

WILSON, N.C. - Central Michigan University junior and current Tobs signee Trent Howard was drafted in the seventh round of the 2011 First-Year Major League Baseball Player Draft on Tuesday afternoon. The 6'2", 195 lbs lefty was taken 215th overall by the Baltimore Orioles.
Howard, who is signed to pitch for the Tobs in 2011, also played in Wilson in 2009 after his freshman year at Central Michigan. In the summer of '09, Howard went 6-1 with a 1.01 ERA in 10 appearances (eight starts) for the Tobs. That summer, he limited opponents to a .215 batting average, and he only gave up six earned runs in 53.1 innings.
This spring at Central Michigan, Howard went 4-4 with a 2.78 ERA in 14 starts including one complete game. In total he pitched 87.1 innings, allowing 40 runs (27 earned) on 76 hits. He also struck out 96 batters and walked only 22.
