Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (June 14, 2006) -The Trenton Titans announced on Wednesday that they have named Vince Williams their Assistant Coach for the 2006-07 season.

Williams, 30, retires after eight years of professional hockey including almost six seasons with the Titans. Last season he chipped in two goals, eight assists and 80 penalty minutes and was the only player to appear in every regular season and playoff game for Trenton.

"At this point in my career, this is the right opportunity for me," said Williams. "It gives me the chance to take that next step, learn under Rick Kowalsky and also remain here in Trenton."

Williams was a member of the Trenton Titans' inaugural squad in 1999-2000 and ranks second on the team all-time with 355 games played, while also compiling 58 points (10g, 48a) and 482 penalty minutes.

"I know Vinny will work just as hard off the ice as he did on the ice," said Rick Kowalsky. "He knows the league, he knows the players and, most importantly, he knows what it takes to win here in Trenton."

A native of Ottawa, Williams entered the pro ranks in 1998-99 with the now-defunct Columbus Chill (ECHL). He also appeared in 37 games in the International Hockey League and was part of the Turner Cup Champion Orlando Solar Bears team in 2001-02.

Williams finishes his career with 26 goals, 94 assists and 671 penalty minutes in 531 contests.
