Titans Sign Cygan

TRENTON, NJ (August 2, 2004) - The Trenton Titans announced today that they have agreed to terms with center Steve Cygan for the 2004-05 season. Per club policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Steve brings a level of speed to the team that Titans fans may not have seen in a while," said Titans' Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Mike Haviland. "He put up great numbers in Rockford, comes from a quality program at the University of Alaska-Anchorage and we're excited to have him."

Cygan, 25, began his professional career with the Rockford IceHogs of the United Hockey League, where he blasted onto the scene in 2002-03 breaking IceHog rookie records for games (76), goals (27), assists (45) and points (72). As a result the 5'6", 160 lb center was named to the UHL All-Rookie Team and took home the award for Rookie of the Year. Cygan leaves Rockford after two seasons ranked second in goals (53), third in points (115) and games played (152) and fourth in assists (62).

Now entering his third professional season, Cygan was a four-year letterman for the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seahawks and tied the school record by appearing in 143 games. The Spring Grove, IL native finished his collegiate career with 44 goals, 46 assists and 95 penalty minutes.
