Titans Name 4 to FCBL All-Star Team

The Torrington Titans are proud to announce that four players have been selected to the second annual Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game in Pittsfield. Representing the Titans this year are closer Ales DiSanto (SUNY Old Westbury), starting pitcher Nick Fuller (UMass Dartmouth), third baseman Jake McGuiggan (Harvard), and outfielder Mike Odenwaelder (Amherst College).

DiSanto is right-handed closer who is entering his senior year at SUNY Old Westbury. This season for the Titans, he has 8 saves and a 0.00 ERA. He has only yielded eight hits and has struck out 18 batters 13.1 innings pitched.

Fuller, a rising junior at UMass Dartmouth, has been the Titans' most consistent starter. He is 3-1, has a 2.09 ERA, and has struck out 32 batters while only allowing 22 hits in 38.2 innings pitched.

McGuiggan will be a junior next year at Harvard University, and has been one of the Titan's most consistent and important hitters in the lineup. He is batting .270 with 5 doubles, a home run, 10 RBI, and also has 10 stolen bases.

Odenwaelder is a rising sophomore at Amherst College, and has put up big power numbers this season. He leads the team with nine extra base hits, including a team-leading four home runs and two triples. His 19 RBI also lead the team.

Also in contention to make the team is outfielder Bob Seda (Freed-Hardeman University), who is batting .286 with two doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI in only 15 games. He is featured on the fan vote ballot, and is competing with four other players for the final spot on the roster. Fans can vote at the FCBL's official website, www.thefuturesleague.com.

The 2013 FCBL All-Star Game will feature two teams made up of players from New England-based franchises (Nashua Silver Knights, Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide, Seacoast Mavericks, and Torrington Titans) and those located in Massachusetts (Brockton Rox, Martha's Vineyard Sharks, North Shore Navigators, Pittsfield Suns, and Wachusett Dirt Dawgs). It will take place at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, MA at 7:10 on Thursday, July 25.
