Trenton Titans News Release

Trenton, NJ -- The Trenton Titans, proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelhpia Flyers, fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators, 3-2, on home ice Wednesday night. The Gladiators sweep the two-game season series with the Titans, after nabbing a 4-2 win in Gwinnett in early December.

Gwinnett (29-18-2-1, 61 pts) used a goal in each period to edge out the Titans. Scott Arnold opened the scoring in the first, beating Trenton goalie Scott Wedgewood (14-16-2-1, 31 saves) to give Gwinnett a 1-0 lead. Cody Brookwell and Joey Haddad added goals in the second and third respectively to secure the victory.

The Titans (18-23-3-3, 42 pts) never stopped battling, finally tying the game early in the second with the 7th power play goal of the yearfrom Jacob Cepis. It was his 13th of the season, with assists by Jesse Todd and Brian Haczyk.

In the third, just seven seconds after Haddad gave Gwinnett a 3-1 lead, Mike Ullrich pulled the Titans back to within one, slipping behind the defense and beating Louis Domingue (15-7-1-1, 29 saves) while also extending his personal point streak to eight games (6G, 7A). Haczyk earned his second assist of the night on the play.

The Titans had one last chance to tied the game with 30 seconds left after Gwinnett took a delay of game penalty. However despite good pressure and a couple quality chances, they were unable to get the equalizer. Trenton was able to connect once on four power play chances, and a disciplined PK unit killed off the only Gwinnett extra-man opportunity. The Titans penalty kill, the league's best entering play tonight, improved slightly to 86.5% on the season.

Trenton will remain home this weekend for clashes with Atlantic Division rival Reading (Fri, 7:05 pm) and Kalamazoo (Sat, 7:35 pm). As always, those games can be heard on the flagship station 107.7 FM The Bronc, or online at 1077thebronc.com with the voice of the Titans, "The Bronc" Daryle Dobos.
