Titans Fall to Aston in Weekend Rubber Match
January 9, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
New Jersey Titans News Release
Despite outshooting the Rebels by a 35-17 margin, the Titans were kept off the scoreboard in a 4-0 loss.
They even held the Rebels to single digits in each period. However, Aston goaltender Dorian Hansen stopped all 35 Titan shots.
Two of the Rebels' goals were on the power play including one on a five-minute major.
The Titans didn't give up on the game despite a three-goal deficit, pulling goalie Spencer Wright with just under three minutes left in the third period. However, the Rebels got a clearing attempt on target for the fourth and final goal.
Despite the frustrating loss, the Titans are still tied with Aston for first place in the NAHL Eastern Division with 42 points each.
Next week the Titans will face all three teams in the Eastern Division over the course of four days. First, they'll travel to Revolution Ice Centre to face the Wilkes-Barre Scranton before returning home for a Saturday night matchup with the Johnstown Tomahawks.
Saturday night will also be Star Wars Night featuring Darth Vador and stormtroopers. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the faceoff coming at 7:30 p.m.
Then they'll host the Rebels again for a Monday matinee at 3 p.m. as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
