Lone Star Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Brahmas didn't need late theatrics to pull off the victory on Saturday night, pounding the Odessa Jackalopes by a score of 4-1.
The first period zipped by brisk pace and no score but in the second both teams found the back of the net.
Joey Fallon opened the scoring on a breakaway after receiving a nifty drop off from Alex Berardinelli. The lead didn't last long though as Andrew McLean of the Jacks hammered home a power play goal for the second consecutive evening.
Before the period wrapped up the Brahmas got one of their own on the man advantage, courtesy of a Martin Mellberg wrister.
Tempo was turned down by both teams in the first half of the final frame but the large NYTEX crowd got back on their feet when Dalton Skelly cleaned up a mess in front, marking it his second consecutive day with a goal.
With just over a minute to Peter Kessel hit the empty 4 x 6 to put the icing on the cake and make it 4-1.
In net Corbin Kaczperski picked up his seventh straight win, stopping 11 of 12 sent his way.
The team is home again next weekend for three home games thanks to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. For the first time this regular season the Brahmas welcome the Corpus Christi IceRays and tickets are still available.
