New Jersey Titans News Release
Dominik Rivelli scored four goals as New Jersey cruised in the final preseason home game against the Danbury Jr Hat Tricks with an 8-3 victory on Saturday night.
Coming off a 7-3 victory last night, the Titans kept the offense rolling with three goals in the first period. Steven Kirkpatrick started the scoring with a goal just 5:19 into the game, assisted by Ryan Novo. New Jersey extended their lead just over 3 minutes later as Ryan Friedman made it 2-0. With Novo in the box for roughing, Dominik Rivelli knocked a puck away at his own blueline and raced in on a breakaway for his second goal of the preseason. Danbury's Ivan Korodiuk would strike for the Hat Tricks to make the game 3-1 before the first intermission.
Rivelli would add his second shorthanded goal 8:07 into the second, taking advantage of a CJ Kier miscue behind the net and wrapping the puck home. With Novo again in the box for roughing, Rivelli completed the very rare shorthanded hat trick at 14:50 with a wrist shot to the far side. Arhip Sidarovich joined the party 18 seconds later with a laser of his own to make it 6-1. Nash Jacobsma connected for the Hat Tricks before the period ended.
Nick Ferrari of the Hat Tricks made it 6-3 less than 2 minutes into third, but that would be as close as Danbury would come. Rivelli would finally score an even strength goal less than a minute later, giving him four on the evening and five so far in the preseason. Jack Hillier added the exclamation point two minutes after that, potting home a Ryan Novo shot for the final score of 8-3. Novo was named the third star of the game with a pair of assists, Hillier the second star with a goal and assist, and Dominik Rivelli was the first star of the game.
With the win, New Jersey has one game remaining on its preseason slate, a 3:00pm faceoff on Wednesday, August 30th, against the Philadelphia Rebels. Then, the Titans begin the 2023-24 season with eight straight road games with two in Danbury, four in Minnesota, and two in Massachusetts, before their home opener at the end of September.
