Halifax Mooseheads News Release
Acadie-Bathurst, NB - Your Halifax Mooseheads cruised to a second consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre in Bathurst thanks to a nine-goal explosion on offense to defeat the Titan 9-1.
14 different players found their way onto the scoresheet for the Herd who were coming off a Saturday night win in Moncton and now have an even 2-and-2 record on the young QMJHL season. Rookie Cade Moser scored his first two career goals while second star Brody Fournier also scored twice. Lou Levesque played a major role in the latest victory and was named the first star of the game with one goal and three assists. He has found great chemistry with linemates Mathieu Cataford and Logan Crosby and the three players combined for 10 points on Sunday.
Cataford has two games under his belt since returning from injury and NHL camp with Vegas and hasn't missed a beat. He was the third star of the game with three assists. Crosby continues to lead the Mooseheads in scoring with his solid start to the season and chipped in with a goal and two helpers. Other goal scorers included David Moravec, Braeden MacPhee and Jake Todd - who notched the first of his career.
While the high-scoring output got all of the attention, goalie Mathis Rousseau quietly put together a fantastic outing between the pipes with 38 saves on 39 shots. Colby Huggan was the only player to beat him when he struck midway through the second period.
Halifax scored three times in each period to secure the victory and chased starting goalie Joshua Fleming after he allowed five goals on 28 shots in the opening 27 minutes of action. Backup Antoine Keller gave up four goals on 17 shots in 33 minutes played. The Moose struck twice in four chances on the man advantage with Moravec and Fournier getting the power play goals. Bathurst was 0-for-2 on the PP.
Markus Vidicek completed his two-game suspension and will return to the lineup when the Mooseheads visit the Cape Breton eagles on Wednesday night. Jordan Dumais remains at NHL training camp with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Halifax is set to return to Scotiabank Centre for a pair of games Friday, October 6th versus Victoriaville and Saturday, October 7th against Blainville-Boisbriand. The first 3,000 fans on Saturday will receive free Mooseheads schedule fridge magnets. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca.
