Tired Of Tolls? Surf Have You Covered

February 14, 2008 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Atlantic City Surf News Release

Atlantic City, N.J. - With New Jersey Governor John Corzine's recent proposal to raise tolls on state roads, the Atlantic City Surf are looking to help fans who pay tolls on their way to games at Bernie Robbins Stadium. Surf vice president Ryan Conley has announced that all fans who show their game-day receipt from the Pleasantville toll booth on the Atlantic City Expressway (near Exit 4) at the box office will receive $1 off their ticket.

"Surf games have always been inexpensive family entertainment, and we don't want that to change for our fans who come from outlying areas," Conley said. "Just show us your receipt from your way into the game, and we'll cover the cost of your tolls - 50 cents each way."

Bernie Robbins Stadium is located at 545 North Albany Avenue in Atlantic City, just off of Exit 2 on the Expressway.

OTTAWA ANNOUNCES NICKNAME, TABS MANAGER

Ottawa, Ontario - The new Ottawa franchise in the Canadian-American League announced the club's nickname and field manager at a press conference in the Canadian capital today. The team will be known as the Ottawa Rapids, a name synonymous with the rich river history of the city and chosen from over 1,100 entries in a name-the-team contest.

The Rapids also introduced Ed Nottle as their first field manager. Nottle will be in his 16th season as an independent league skipper and his 29th overall as a minor league manager. He previously managed Brockton of the Can-Am League from 2002 to 2005.

The Surf's 2008 home opener takes place against Ottawa on May 26. The Rapids also visit Bernie Robbins Stadium from July 28-31, while Atlantic City travels to Ottawa July 9-12 and July 21-23.
