Ottawa Rapids Make It Official

Can-AM League commissioner Miles Wolff welcomed the Ottawa Rapids to the League at a press conference held today at Ottawa Baseball Stadium. Mr. Wolff also introduced members of the media to Ed Nottle who will manage the new club. Mr. Nottle most recently managed the Sioux City Explorers of the American Associaton of Independent Baseball. Also present at the event were Ottawa Mayor, Larry O'Brien, Councillors Bob Monette and Rob Jellet. Mayor O'Brien also drew the name of the winning entrant from the recent "Name the Team" contest.

Mr. Wolff also proudly revealed the new blue and silver Rapids logo, which features a bilingual version of the team name (Ottawa Rapids/Rapides d'Ottawa) above a stylized baseball.

2008 will mark the inaugural season for the Ottawa Rapids. Ottawa, the league's second Canadian team, will host 47 home dates, welcoming teams from Atlantic City , Nashua , Quebec City, Brockton , Sussex , Worcester and New Jersey.
