Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Reece Vitelli finished a post-to-post feed by Ronan Seeley with 45.2 remaining to lift the Everett Silvertips to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Tri-City Americans on Friday night to conclude the first day of the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic in downtown Everett.
Vitelli, who finished Seeley's pass at the glove side of Talyn Boyko, ripped the 61st shot on net and the 27th in the third period and overtime. Gianni Fairbrother also cashed in with a two assist game while new import Michal Gut buried the first Silvertips pre-season goal.
Gut lifted the Tips to a 1-0 lead at 7:47, shortly after an expired power play in the first period when he converted a sharp angled shot past Boyko at the left circle. Nick Bowman's puzzling bouncer from the blueline snuck through traffic to tie the game for Tri-City, 1-1 with 1:01 to play.
The Tips responded on Jackson Berezowski's one timer at the left circle, set up by Dawson Butt with 2:27 left in the second period and elevated pressure on the Americans, but fell into a 2-2 tie when Edge Lambert finished a 2-on-1 with 9:22 elapsed.
Dustin Wolf, who made 19 saves in his pre-season debut, stopped a Marc Lajoie snap shot off the rush in overtime before the Tips turned the puck up the ice for the winner. Ronan Seeley, winning a battle at the left boards, snuck past the Americans defense and dangled to the net. His tape-to-tape feed found Vitelli at the right post, who re-directed the pass past Boyko's glove and sent the Silvertips spilling off the bench to celebrate.
NOTES: The Silvertips scratched Martin Fasko-Rudas (injury), Max Patterson, Justyn Gurney, Jalen Price, Ty Gibson, Wyatte Wylie (Philadelphia Flyers camp), and Keegan Karki ...
