Blades Fall to Warriors in Overtime

Regina, SK - The Saskatoon Blades were felled by the Moose Jaw Warriors in overtime on Saturday afternoon, going down by a 4-to-3 scoreline. The two clubs traded leads during regulation before Eric Alarie's second goal of the game closed the match 38 seconds into the extra period.

The Blades' second Pre-Season matchup of 2019 saw four new Blades iced in Saskatoon colours. D Scott Walford (99), D Libor Zabransky (00), D Parker Malchuk (01) and F Tyler Ho (00) all made their Saskatoon "pre-season debuts" wearing the Blue & Gold. Ho found the back of the net at the start of the third period, levelling the score out at 1-1.

Meanwhile, rookie & 2018 4th Round pick Charlie Wright had his name on the scoresheet twice with two assists in his first outing for 2019.

2019 Draftee G Ethan Chadwick (04) was dressed as a Blade for the first time and started as the backup to 17-year-old G Koen MacInnes. MacInnes played the entire match and was kept busy, stopping 37 of the Warriors' 41 shots.

While penalized often, the Blades' successfully killed 6 of 7 Moose Jaw power play opportunities.

Ryan Hughes scored Saskatoon's second game-tying-goal late in the third period to force overtime, as well as adding an assist on a Tristen Robins goal. Robins finished his evening leading the team with 5 shots on goal, a team-high stat he shared with defender Libor Zabransky.

The Blades will return to action on Friday, September 6th, when they host the Prince Albert Raiders at the Legends Centre in Warman, SK. Puck-drop is at 7:05pm. Tickets are available now at The Legends Centre box office in Warman and the Blades' business office at SaskTel Centre.
