LAST NIGHT: The TinCaps lost to the Chiefs, 7-6. Joshua Mears led the way a multi-hit game, including an RBI-single in 8th to put Fort Wayne ahead 6-5. Chiefs outfielder Todd Lott hit a walk-off home run in the ninth.

HOT CAPS: The TinCaps have won or tied three series in a row (July 4-10 vs. LC: 3-3, July 12-17 vs. LAN: 4-2, July 22-24 @ DAY: 2-1), their longest unbeaten series streak of the year. With a win today, Fort Wayne would double its previous best streak of two consecutive series won/tied from April 12-24 vs. SB and @ LAN.

ROBERT HASSELL: Ranks 4th in the MWL in batting average (.301), 4th in hits (90), 5th in RBIs (54), 8th in total bases (138), and 9th in OBP (.381)...9thlowest swing and miss % (9%)...On July 16, Hassell became the first active player in franchise history to appear in the Futures Game.

He also leads in RBI (9) and stolen bases (7). With a hit today, he would match the team's longest hit streak of the year: 10 games.

JOSHUA MEARS: In the last four games, he is 6-for-16 (.375) with a team-best .938 OPS. A hit today would give him his longest hit streak as a TinCap this year: 5 games. Between the Complex League and High-A, he is on an 11-game on-base streak dating back to June 28.

ELITE EXIT VELOCITY: Joshua Mears' home run Thursday had an exit velocity of 114 MPH. For context, Padres All-Star Manny Machado has a max exit velo of 112 MPH this season (while last year he homered at 119). San Diego catcher Jorge Alfaro leads the Friars with an exit velo of 114 on a homer (he also hit a ball at 115 that was caught on the warning track in center). But for Mears, this wasn't even a personal record. In a big league spring training game last year, he hit a home run with an EV of 117.

JARRYD DALE: Ranks 4th in the MWL in games (91) and 5th in walks (56).

CAUGHT 'EM: TinCaps catchers are 2nd in the MWL in throwing runners out trying to steal (34 CS). Individually, Brandon Valenzuela leads the league with 23, while Anthony Vilar has nabbed 9, and Adam Kerner has caught 2.

PATIENT: The TinCaps lead the MWL in walks drawn (4.7 per game).
