Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT- An eighth-inning home run by Ynmanol Marinez propelled the Beloit Sky Carp to a 4-3 victory and a series win on Sunday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium.
In front of a terrific matinee crowd of 2,022, the Sky Carp won for the seventh time in their last nine games.
Marinez's solo blast broke a 3-3 tie, made a winner of out Chris Mokma and set up a save opportunity for Chandler Jozwiak, who converted in routine fashion for his fourth save of the season.
Beloit took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double Victor Mesa Jr. And a run-scoring groundout by Davis Bradshaw.
After allowing a run in the top of the third inning, Beloit's Marcus Chiu's run-scoring grounder made it 3-1. The Bandits scored single runs in the sixth and eighth to tie the game, setting up Marinez's heroics.
The Sky Carp will take to the road, heading to Cedar Rapids for a six-game series beginning on Tuesday. Beloit will return home to face West Michigan on Tuesday, August 9.
