LAST NIGHT: Fort Wayne's 4-game winning streak came to an end with a pair of losses in a doubleheader. The Whitecaps took Game 1 by a score of 5-0, and then no-hit the TinCaps in a 4-0 victory in Game 2.

MiLB RELIEF: After losing the entirety of the 2020 Minor League Baseball season and having attendance limited to begin 2021, the TinCaps are asking fans to visit MinorLeagueBaseballRelief.com and tell Congress to support the Minor League Baseball Relief Act.

MONTERO ON THE MOUND: The TinCaps saw Keider Montero at Parkview Field on Opening Day. Fort Wayne was only 2-for-10 against him, but 1 of those hits was a 3-run homer for Justin Lopez. The right-hander walked 4 and struck out just 3. Montero also hit 2 batters and was pulled after 2 2/3 innings. Of his 72 pitches, only half were strikes. He allowed 5 runs (all earned). The TinCaps went on to win, 8-0.

PATIENT APPROACH: The TinCaps lead the High-A Central in the combination of walks and hit by pitches. Fort Wayne is averaging about 5 free passes per game.

RUN, REY, RUN: Reinaldo Ilarraza ranks 6th in the HAC with 21 SB.

EXPERIMENTAL RULE CHANGE: As of Tuesday, the "Step-Off Rule" is no longer in place. Pitchers are no longer required to step back off the rubber before throwing to a base. In 59 "first half" games, the TinCaps stole 67 bases and were caught 24 times (73% success rate). In 2019, through 59 games, Fort Wayne stole 52 bases and was caught 21 times (71%). Entering Tuesday, the league as a whole had 912 stolen bases in 1,165 tries (78%). At roughly the same point in 2019, when the league had 16 teams, there were 836 stolen bases (69%). So teams went from averaging about 0.86 stolen bases per game to 1.2.
